Why Volunteer with LAL?

LAL invites you to be a part of our growing team of volunteers. With a full time staff of 6, much of what happens here comes from you, our volunteer. Without your contribution, it would be difficult to make our great work possible. LAL volunteers gain valuable work experience in Lexington’s oldest and largest visual arts organization, while providing vital support to LAL and the central Kentucky community.
Volunteer Benefits

  • Build your resume with arts work experience and gain recommendations
  • Network with artists, arts professionals and the central Kentucky art, culture and business communities
  • Help your community to see differently through the lens of visual art
  • Enable LAL staff to work more efficiently

LAL Volunteer Opportunities

We value both traditional and nontraditional education and experiences that have helped you develop the skills and knowledge to be a volunteer. Before completing the volunteer application, please read the descriptions for available opportunities and choose those that best fit your background and interests. Volunteer applications are accepted at all times. We keep all applications on file, and will contact applicants with the required skills, interests and availability on an as-needed basis.

Interested? Please download and complete the volunteer application above and return to LAL.

Depending on your volunteer assignment, LAL reserves the right to conduct a background check.  By submitting this application, you are agreeing to allow us to complete this process.

The Lexington Art League’s programs are made possible through the generous support of LexArts.  The annual Campaign for the Arts has raised millions of dollars in support of the visual, literary and performing arts in Lexington.  Through the success of the Campaign, LexArts supports The Lexington Art League with an allocation of $62,000 for general operating support.  We thank the many individuals whose passion for the arts compelled them to give generously of their time and money.  Together these donations helped LexArts raise more than $1 million for the arts community.

Special thanks to the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government and the Kentucky Arts Council for their continued partnership in ensuring a flourishing future for the arts in Lexington and central Kentucky.  The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, supports the Lexington Art League with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
